s Arenas Golf & Country Club – Overview

Is Arenas Golf & Country Club is one of Sardinia’s most exclusive and secluded golf destinations, located on the island’s west coast within a vast protected pine forest and natural dune landscape.

Widely regarded as one of the most scenic golf courses in Italy, it combines dense Mediterranean pine woodland, rolling sand dunes, and an unspoiled coastline to create a fully immersive “nature golf” experience where the environment is an essential part of the game.

Location

The course is situated in the Narbolia area, in the province of Oristano. It is approximately 1 hour 20 to 1 hour 30 minutes from Cagliari Airport. The setting spans a protected forest area of around 700–800 hectares and lies close to a long stretch of wild coastline, offering direct proximity to the sea while remaining deeply embedded in nature.

Positioned between forest and shoreline, the course provides a rare blend of woodland and coastal golf environments.

Course Design & Layout

18 holes | Par 72 | approximately 6,300 meters
Designed by Robert Von Hagge in collaboration with Smelek & Baril
Ranked among the top golf courses in Italy

Key characteristics include tree-lined fairways carved through natural pine corridors, dune-style holes close to the coastline, strategically placed bunkers, and strong wind influence that adds an additional layer of challenge.

The course is designed to be both technically demanding and highly rewarding, with a layout that offers variety and constant interaction with the surrounding landscape.

It is often described as a championship-level course fully integrated into nature, where each hole feels isolated, distinctive, and shaped by its environment.
